Oscar's Melissa Houghton Shortlisted for Made in Manchester Recruitment Award

Oscar are delighted to announce that our Managing Consultant Melissa Houghton has made the shortlist for Made in Manchester’s prestigious Talent and Retention Professional of the Year.

Going into their fifth year, the Made in Manchester Awards celebrate the best of Manchester’s young talent, with accolades in 13 different categories.

Each shortlisted candidate must now undergo an intensive interview process with a panel of industry expert judges to determine the winners.

At just 25 years old, Mel became Oscar’s youngest Managing Consultant at the age of 24, going on to lead a team of Consultants recruiting for talented Web and Software Developers based across the North West.

Since joining Oscar’s School of Excellence programme as a fresh graduate in 2013, Mel’s career has quickly progressed through the ranks. In 2016, she has grown team to more than eight IT / Technology recruitment experts, while breaking company records and receiving some of our highest ratings for client and candidate satisfaction.

These awards are the second to recognise Mel’s achievements this year. In September, Mel beat off strong competition to win The Drum’s Recruitment Consultant of the Year Award, with Oscar claiming Best Small Recruitment Agency.

"Mel has been a member of our team for almost four years and has been an invaluable asset to the growth of the Permanent Technology Division." Said Matthew Southworth, Director at Oscar,

"What is so impressive about Mel is that not only has she developed a long list of customers who are happy to keep coming back, using her services time and again, but she continues to supplement this client list with new businesses.

Despite joining as a fresh grad, Mel has always had clear career goals and has actively sought to take on additional responsibilities. As a result of these ambitions combined with skills she has developed, Mel has quickly built a team of eight highly successful Consultants and counting.

"Mel deserves to win this award because she is an inspiration to her colleagues and to women in the recruitment and technology space.”

Interviews will commence on 5th January, with the Made in Manchester winners announced at the Hilton Hotel on 2nd February.

Good luck, Mel!
