Technology Trends 2017

Trends that we think will define 2017

Whilst we can't predict the future, we can make some educated guesses.

2016 proved to be an important year for technological advancement, and more than that, has now set the stage for multiple other technologies to expand and take over in the coming year.

The IOT & Smart Home Tech

The IOT saw massive advancements in 2016, and it's predicted to dominate the coming years as well.

The main problem encountered with the IOT is that it'a not yet seamless enough to be able to work properly in a 'smart home'.

However in 2017 companies such as Google, Amazon and Apple are all expected to get involved with the IOT meaning that uniform user experiences might be on the horizon.

Machine Learning & Business Bots

Machine Learning has been improving over the past few years, and in 2017 it is expected to enter almost every type of consumer, and some business, applications.

In 2017 expect entrepreneurs and business owners to rely more heavily on Artificial Intelligence to handle the logistics of running a business.

AR & VR

2016 saw major advancements in commercial augmented and virtual reality with systems and games such as Oculus Rift and Pokemon Go being released.

This trend is only set to increase in 2017 with more companies producing VR on mass.

There's even a possibility that live events, such as concerts or sports matches, will become part of VR by being able to livestream directly into someone's home.

Automation

Coupled with the advancement of AI and Machine Learning, Automation will also become bigger and better during 2017 with advanced technology that could replace previously 'human exclusive' tasks

Productivity within white-collar jobs is expected to rise, and automation could possibly wipe out these jobs altogether.

Automation will also affect security and safety as cars become increasingly 'smarter' and houses will experience a Smart Home security revamp.
