With just one day to go until the winner of the Insider North West Young Professional Awards are announced, tension is rising in Oscar HQ.
Oscar’s Managing Consultant Melissa Houghton is shortlisted for Young HR / Recruitment Professional of the Year – her third time within the last 12 months.
Having scooped The Drum Recruitment Awards’ Consultant of the Year and been Highly Commended in the Made in Manchester Awards, Mel is once again on a shortlist of seven hugely talented finalists.
The Insider North West Young Professional Awards celebrate the best young business talent (35 years old or younger) across the region and will this year be held at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester city centre.
Having joined Oscar’s Graduate Training Programme straight out of university in 2013, Mel has since become Oscar’s youngest Managing Consultant at the age of 24.
She now leads our largest permanent IT Recruitment team, finding jobs for Web and Software Developers for companies across the North West region, and has smashed several company records along the way.
“Being shortlisted for a third award in the space of a year is a really unexpected achievement, given the number of talented people working in recruitment.
“Being based in Manchester and working closely with clients and candidates in the area, it means a lot to be a finalist for an award celebrating the North West.
“The other finalists in The Drum and Made in Manchester Awards were really strong – many of them in Directorship and Senior Management roles – so to be recognised in both of these was a surreal experience.
“The Oscar team have been delivering some fantastic team and individual performances recently so I fully expect to see plenty of Consultants from our recruitment agency making the shortlists this year.”
The winners will be announced on 20th April. Good luck, Mel!
