Oscar has been ranked ninth in this year’s prestigious Sunday Times 100 Best Small Companies to Work For making it the number one UK recruitment firm on the list. The 100-strong list, compiled in partnership with Best Companies, recognises the organisations which are leading the way in creating engaging and exciting workplaces, with Oscar leaping into the top 10 from 22nd place last year.
“We are blown away by our placement as the number one recruitment company and ninth Best Small Company to Work For in the UK list,” says Oscar CEO Andy Morrell. “However, this achievement is by no means accidental. It’s a testament to the hard work and commitment of our team to making Oscar the recruitment employer of choice. This accolade is dedicated to all of team Oscar.”
The win follows a monumental year for Oscar, which saw the business celebrate its most successful financial year-to-date in 2019 after enjoying a record turnover of £28 million. As a result, Oscar made two senior promotions to fill the positions of managing director for the UK & Europe and the USA, assisting on the company’s stratospheric financial trajectory amid ambitious plans to strengthen the company’s global reach supported by the new Austin, USA office, all while providing recruiting excellence to both candidates and clients.
Oscar secured the listing as a result of their excellent staff satisfaction levels, stemming from a sustained focus on wellbeing, including workshops with Dr. Hannah Taylor. Also, the extensive emphasis placed on celebrating success, such as top performers trips to Chamonix and Dubrovnik were of note, as well as the celebration of high performing team members, such as associate director Melissa Houghton and Alice Smith who were rewarded with a trip to London to see Michelle Obama speak.
Within day-to-day operations, Oscar places specific importance on giving back to the community- such as sponsorships of Manchester Metropolitan University's netball and rugby teams, as well as supporting charity fundraisers for their partner, Forever Manchester. The latest honor adds to the firm's impressive roster of accolades in the last 12 months, which included achieving the maximum three-star accreditation from Best Companies in November 2019, demonstrating extraordinary levels of workplace engagement.
