The 2nd / 3rd Line Linux Role:

We are searching for a 2nd / 3rd Line Support Engineer to provide Linux, Ubuntu / Windows support within a customer / client facing position. We are looking for a candidate who has an in depth knowledge of Windows and Linux, Ubuntu, experience Programming (ideally in Python), Database Knowledge (SQL, Oracle, Postgres / PostgresSQL etc), and Active Directory Administration (Group Policies etc).

The role will involve working through day to day support tickets within a small team, programming dependant on customer / client requests, and a general mixture of both project and business as usual tasks. This is a predominantly office based position however will involve occasional work on client sites so your own car / driving licence would be beneficial however not essential.

The successful 2nd / 3rd Line Support candidate will be joining a growing Technology company who have a stable market presence across the UK. They offer a range of products, services, solutions and more, focusing on focusing on the technology and infrastructure behind your day to day business and data. The company is offering a strong contributory pension plan along with 25 days holiday (starting). This specific team currently has 3 technical staff providing support with a view to grow to 5 within the next 12 months. The company size is currently at roughly 60 which again is set to grow over the coming months.

What skills will the 2nd / 3rd Line Support Engineer need:

  • 2nd / 3rd Line Support Experience (Windows or Linux)
  • Programming experience (Python)
  • Database Support / Administration experience (SQL, Oracle, Postgres, PostgresSQL etc)
  • Client Facing / Stakeholder Management Skills

What the client is looking for is someone who can provide 2nd / 3rd Line Support, who has a strong knowledge of the above skills (Windows, Linux, Ubuntu, Python, SQL, Oracle, Active Directory etc), who is comfortable supporting technically minded customers remotely and in person.
