Director of Engineering

What you'll be doing:

You will be responsible for growing our teams, providing tailored solutions for our customers and making our platform world-class. Working with our Product and Design Teams, you will help with the creation of products from inception through execution. You must possess a unique blend of business, technical expertise and analytical skills. You will lead engineers and collaborate closely with designers, product managers, QA and other cross-functional team members within the organization to build a product that amazes and delights our users.

  • Managing 2-4 Engineering Managers and Team Leads
  • Role will be Golang and microservices focused. POS experience is great to have, but not a must-have. Payment integration/ecommerce also a plus
  • Make the role what you will, as hands-on or off as you like, but normally is more people-focused at this level
  • Collaborate with cross-functional peers (i.e. product, design, sales, support) and use strategic influence to shape product vision
  • Recruit top-notch technical talent and provide mentorship to team members
  • Guide architectural conversations to solve complex technical challenges
  • Drive release process and deploy reliable products that are instrumented with logging, monitoring and alerting
  • Hypothesize, measure and learn. Continuously test and leverage insights to inform decisions
  • Be able to put yourself in our customer's shoes everyday
  • Grow and mentor our engineering teams and learning culture

Who you are:

  • Experience as a Sr. Software Engineer with Golang and microservices
  • 2+ yrs managing software engineering teams
  • 2+ yrs experience at Director level
  • Experience producing intricate powerful products that are made simple for the customer
  • Have brought products and services to market and have knowledge of payment apps like PayPal, Stripe, and others
  • POS experience
  • Used to working in a metrics and analytical driven work style that leverages information/data to make decisions
  • Able to multitask during an iterative process
  • Able to work flexible hours
  • Experience managing analytics and platform team (plus!)
  • Data evaluation and presentation skills (plus!)
  • Tableau and/or snowflake experience (plus!)
