Health and Safety Office Manager - £65,000 - Majority Remote - Penrith

Role - Health and Safety Office Manager

Location - Penrith (largely remote, with some site visits)

Salary - Up to £65,000

We are currently on the hunt for a Health and Safety office Manager to join a brand-new team being built in the Penrith area for an exciting telecommunications company.

Since their launch a few years ago, they have been growing at an expediential rate and they are now in the process of building a brand-new office and as a result have a significant number of vacancies, the most pressing of which is the Health and Safety Manager. With this hiring spree and the new office comes the chance to be a part of the framework for this company as well as becoming an integral part of their development in the fibre broadband game in the North of England.

The role

The H&S Officer will deliver effective and value-added strategies that meet both the operational needs of the business, and the Group's governance and assurance requirements. Whilst coordinating the HR team, you will be responsible for creating the framework for health, safety, quality, and environmental management.


With this role, you will primarily be working remotely with 1-2 days a month spent in the office. However, travel to sites will be required. These sites will extend from Penrith across to Newcastle so access to a vehicle is necessary.


  • Aid development and delivery of strategical plans for managing and improving Health and Safety Risks.
  • To support the development and delivery of internal/external HS training to operational teams (and other parties, where required) in line with agreed company HS competency programmes.
  • Provide support and technical advice to operational teams, as well as ensuring operational needs are met
  • Contribute to the wider strategic, operational, financial and commercial management within the Business unit
  • Support operational teams in measuring the effectiveness of HSEQ policy implementation through inspection/audit, the review of appropriate performance measures, and by contributing to the monthly HSEQ (and operational) reporting cycle.


  • Qualification in a relevant subject related to construction health and safety management (e.g., NEBOSH Certificate) or equivalent qualifications/experience.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of HSEQ generalist skills
  • Solid working knowledge of HSEQ law, and relevant sector specific HSEQ standards in relation to construction/building
  • Technical Skills & Ability in Generalist HSEQ
