Role - MySQL DBA

Location - Remote

Salary - up to £70,000 plus benefits

We have a brand-new role for a MySQL DBA to work with a company who are going through a huge growth phase at the moment. Building on the success of 2020, this organisation has had a huge 6 months and have experienced 800% growth year on year.

In order to keep going they have been making a number of key hires within technology and now it is time to turn their attention to their database systems and bring an experienced DBA on board.

This is very much a classical DBA position with all of the responsibilities and requirements you would expect, their database systems does have a range of databases within it, however, MySQL is by far the most prevalent

The Company

With strong growth plans 2021 is going to be a big year for the technology department. They have a number of key projects due for the delivery within data & analytics making this and exciting time to join.

The growth has been phenomenal with 800% year on year growth in the UK. Now they are expanding into 140 countries and taking their product worldwide. In addition they have also just had a huge amount of investment to facilitate further growth.

The company has also just began its Data and Analytics journey and a key part of this is making sure the data is available and ready to use for the analytics team when they join the business.

The Person

We are looking for an experienced DBA within MySQL technologies, they do have other databases within their systems, but MySQL is the key experience with are looking for.

This role can be completely remote, ideally there would be some occasional office time (on the south coast) but we are happy to consider people from anywhere within the UK.


  • Design DB with Capacity Management consideration and incremental load
  • Maintaining and monitoring the database platforms
  • Performance tuning: indexing, partitioning & load balancing.
  • Develop and practice disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity.
  • Troubleshoot database performance issues and architect solutions with development teams.
  • Help ensure security and compliance across all database systems.
  • Execute database upgrades
  • Manage database ACLs.
  • Automate as much as possible.
  • Analyse and determines informational needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, proposed manipulation, data flow and storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities for complex databases. Recommends and implements course of action based on analyses.
  • Defines logical attributes and inter-relationships and designs complex data structures to accommodate database production, storage, maintenance and accessibility to enhance performance.
