Product Manager - Software / Hardware

If you're the type of Product Manager that loves really smart tech, IoT and/or networked devices at home and would love to dabble in something similar in your professional life, then I have a brilliant role here for you.

Oscar Technology are exclusively partnered with a long standing client on a Product Manager hire, who will manage both the strategy & technical roadmap for a range of IP networked cameras for a company that supply to a range of global clients. Their products are not just used to provide security monitoring but also to monitor dangerous areas, with clients operating in a range of industries including Law Enforcement, Energy Sectors and Manufacturing. Their products are designed to operate within insanely challenging conditions, which as a Product Manager can open you up to a range of new challenges to solve!

You role effectively sets out the product ranges strategy, based on client feedback, market & competitor analysis, with input from stakeholders across the business, and then executes a number of Product Roadmaps and Backlogs to continue to deliver world-leading IP camera products & stay ahead of the competition.

The role

The Product Manager has a lot of autonomy to gather information on market & client demands, and formulate a roadmap for existing product ranges but also consider New Product Development ideas for their IP camera ranges & when to retire products reaching the end of life. The role very much combines the proposition & marketing elements of Product Management, with executing product roadmaps, setting up & managing product backlogs and also discovery work.

This includes the hardware, but also the software products that connect & operates them, which is a mixture of C++ and C# / Microsoft stack based. Your role will also collaborate with other Product Managers to help maintain product management standards and also discuss collaboration opportunities.

Over the last few years, the business has transitioned to a SaaS model with Product & Engineering supporting by a Project Management function that oversees implementations and rollouts of updates.

Our clients software engineering function is largely based in Sheffield but their hardware development & engineering is based in North Lincolnshire, so there is likely to be odd site visit. As such this role involves a car allowance to cover that travel.

About you

The ideal profile of candidate is a Product Manager that has both a Software Engineering & Hardware background, however the client would consider candidates who's experience is more biased in either direction, but has an eagerness to learn.

You will have a background in developing and executing product roadmaps, setting up & managing product backlogs and have background in software or hardware development. In addition, experience in market & competitor analysis, taking products from ideation to development and assessing which products need retiring, would be a massive advantage.

Experience with CCTV, IP cameras, video systems , IP networks and / or security systems is absolutely desired, but not essential.

Base location is Sheffield, with onsite parking. Client is close to the M1 (2-3 days a week in the office)
Occasion trips to North Lincolnshire required
Car allowance - £5,000
