Role - Risk Modelling Manager

Salary - Up to £65,000

Work Pattern - Hybrid with one or two days in the office per week

The Role

We have a brand-new role for a senior figure within Risk and Data Modelling. We are looking for someone to "own" the space, essentially running a small team, working across an international business to really understand what is needed and deliver cutting edge models.

This position is really a "Greenfield" role and an opportunity to put your own stamp on the team and future of risk modelling for the business. There will be an initial phase to the role which will involve significant scoping of requirements before building models. These models will be used to make multi-million pound decisions so this is a high profile positions and a key hire for the business.

For this role we are looking for someone with an experience in Risk in a commercial environment (doesn't matter whether is financial, energy, operational etc.) along with good programming and modelling skills. We are looking for someone with ability or experience to manage / lead teams and someone who wants to put their own stamp on the department and team.

Your responsibilities in this role will be:

  • Production of daily exposures and metrics like VaR, Earning-at-Risk, Economic Capital requirement.
  • Manage those exposure and metric positions against the limits and escalate any breach or incident event to the relevant management committee and risk owners
  • Explain and explore any risk profile change across the portfolio responsible for noticeable VaR moves or unexpected accumulative losses
  • Create and prepare periodic and ad-hoc Market Risk reports for senior management committees
  • Conduct any ad-hoc/one-off portfolio analysis and risk impact of new and existing strategies
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the market risk control framework, policy and procedures
  • Work in collaboration with the portfolio modelling and strategy desks to develop and monitor adequate controls and model validation processes.

  • Programming - Python / R / SQL
  • Visualisation - Experience with Tableau, Power BI etc.
  • Experience in Risk Management and Modelling
  • The ability to manage a small team but previous management experience isn't required.
