Business Analyst - Agile / SDLC / Data

A world leading software products business based in Nottingham are looking for an experienced Business Analyst to help lead & mentor a small team of junior BA's, coupled with managing the flow of requirements for several product development teams. The role is heavily client facing & collaborates with product & development teams to understand clients needs, with a particular emphasis on data.

The role involves a mixture of Scrum & Waterfall-based delivery, with a 50/50 split on product-driven work & customisation / small-change projects. The role gives the successful candidate the change to help shape best practice, increase the level of 'agility' in the functions, whilst applying a pragmatic approach to delivery.

As a senior Business Analyst you will demonstrate a deep appreciation for the role and value of the "Business Analyst", acting as a role model you will support & coach junior teammates, regularly identifying & driving opportunities for best practice

The role

The ideal candidate will have an excellent understanding of how clients use data, analytics and technology to drive business benefit, ideally in a marketing context. With a proven track record in product development, you will use your analysis and research skills to rapidly develop subject matter expertise - adding value by identifying needs, evaluating options, spotting quick wins, avoiding pitfalls and swiftly navigate road blocks on a number of exciting projects - driving positive change and growth in an existing portfolio of Targeting products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Developing requirements - clarifying, analysing and affirming needs on behalf of sponsors/ stakeholders to ensure goals & priorities are fully understood.
  • Leading the solution definition phase - collaborating with the experts to identify viable options and making a solution recommendation to sponsors/ stakeholders to seek their approval.
  • Guiding the project team during the solution implementation phase - representing sponsors/ stakeholders, making key decisions, managing expectations and reviewing outcomes, to ensure the solution best meets the requirements.
  • Supporting & educating colleagues & users - helping the business and clients move back into a "business as usual" state, whilst maximising the benefits of the solution.
  • Developing personal and the team's practice - seeking opportunities to develop skills, knowledge & talents through experiences, research & training, as well as collaborating on team methodology & standard improvements.
  • Facilitate and drive performance management processes
  • Champion a culture where the fair treatment of customers is at the heart of the business. Ensure that by leading by example, you adhere to all regulatory requirements and apply appropriate controls in the interests of customers the adoption of a top down approach, demonstrate a culture where all of our people understand their regulatory obligations, including what the fair treatment of customer's means to them and our organisation.


  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst within a product development environment
  • Experience with Agile techniques; producing User Stories, Use Cases, managing JIRA workflows
  • Strong understanding of SCRUM
  • Other experience working in product development (data, SDLC, BA)


  • Recognised BA qualification/accreditation (ISEB or similar)
  • Knowledge of Marketing (traditional and/or digital) techniques
  • Knowledge of data mining, predictive analytics, segmentation, measurement and visualisation techniques and related technologies
  • Experience working in or closely with product management & product development groups
  • Line management / team leadership
