Vacancy: Senior Engineering Manager

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands

The Role:

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will join product and design leaders in developing the vision, value proposition and future of this company's core product as they build the next generation of the service, meaning there has never been a more crucial and exciting time to join this business. Of the variety of products that are available within their service, this is where their worldwide legacy was born, and continues to be their most impactful service.

If you are looking to step into a more managerial role and take a hands-off stance for your next role, then this is the one for you. Whilst laying the future for this product, you will be managing the delivery of technical solutions across the engineering and design teams of it too. You will also maintain a deep understanding of engineering, product and business needs to ensure a consistent and clear vision. You will connect the business goals with the efforts of your team, and this will require you to be involved with and communicate with a number of stakeholders across the company also, including the CTO, marketing, product owners, sales and advertising. Your team must understand the product vision, and how they contribute to it.

They are looking for someone that will work alongside their team and make decisions with them, being the Simba/Nala of the pride. You will support your team to grow technically and professionally, set and monitor performance goals, provide feedback through regular discussions, reviews and one-on-ones, and help in recruiting and hiring efforts for building the team of the future (a team that is always growing). You will also help them in balancing their priorities and enable them to effectively complete long-term projects, manage technical debt, and offer support to the engineering organisation.

The Company:

An innovative and internationally renowned business with over 50 million daily users across 195 countries. Their suite of strongly engineered, high-tier and beautifully simplistic applications allow the free-flow of ideas and enhanced workflows for people in a variety of industries, with a variety of needs. For over a decade, they have helped all areas of the creative, marketing, engineering and many other industries to excel, and through their commitment to grass-root individuals, their free advertising platform gives the opportunity to anyone to be heard.

This company thrives off their passion, diversity and creativity, and their culture embodies this in every way. Their beautiful sustainable offices in central Amsterdam provide an inspiring, relaxing, and comfortable backdrop to your every day, with fresh, vegan-friendly food and snacks (don't worry, meat and cheese hasn't gone anywhere either) provided for you. Each employee is given an educational allowance to use as they see fit to help progress their career, and company-wide events, workshops and conference attendance with industry leaders is in their genes. You even get one day of the month to dedicate to any side projects you might be working on, or simply to try something new! As well as this, you receive a generous pension and even more generous holidays, annual company trips, health and wellbeing budgets, travel allowances, charity leave and the opportunity to host or support events yourself, whether it be industry related or charitable!

Finally, you will also enjoy the benefit of a healthy number of shares in a company that grows in value year-on-year.

  • Experience in team leadership and managing engineers
  • You take enjoyment in mentoring individuals to achieve their professional goals
  • A passion for building a beautiful product
  • Affinity for excellent design and user experience
