Software Developer - REMOTE (Office in Cardiff) - up to 60k- Unlimited holidays, pension, remote and flexible working, Training and progression opportunities and more!

The Role

This is a role for a Software Developer, who loves PHP but also loves to mix things up with languages and frameworks too! 70% of your time will be spent doing PHP, however, a passion to continue playing with languages and frameworks is very desirable. This is because you will be spending some time assisting with Microsoft technologies as well as Perl and Ruby.

In the position, there are two sides to this business. You will be working on a wide range of projects from bespoke software builds, to building some exciting new products which they have on the horizon. They are passionate about complete digital transformation - and work hard with some massive clients to achieve this! Some of the projects that you could be working on consist of: a human rights tracker working directly alongside the United Nations (this stuff makes a difference!) and you will also get to contribute towards software that is currently changing the lives of cancer patients. Products for filming companies, and stuff for the Olympics…

and trust me, it does not stop there!!

You will work on assisting with the development of these projects. They are very much looking for someone to come in and hit the ground running in this role; it will have a Backend focus to it but preferably you will be Full Stack. You will join a bright, innovative, talented development team of 5 - who together represent some of the brightest minds of the Welsh hills.

3 words spring to mind: PASSION, PRIDE AND FUN! They have a laugh doing stuff, but get the job done.

What do I need to apply for this role?

Of course, have developed stuff before. Whether it be websites, application builds, system builds or product builds - you will need to have contributed to the development of such a project before. You will work on the full software lifecycle and will have the opportunity for your voice to be heard as you contribute to architecture working alongside the Tech Director and design, development and build solutions. Your work will be showcased to millions, as you work on projects worth up to £50 million that are crucial worldwide.

Essentially, this company's clients have mixed backends on their systems. 70% of the systems are built in PHP, 25% in .NET and the last 5% in Perl and Ruby. You don't necessarily have to get involved with this, but they believe that once you are competent with most Object Orientated technologies- you have the ability to adapt and get stuck into others! As well as this, in the near future their will be the opportunity to learn NodeJS and JavaScript technologies as this is also further tech that they are currently exploring and R&Ding with. You will have a passionate attitude towards technology; be flexible and have an AGILE mindset and love researching and developing with the best tools to use for the job. You will get the opportunity to have lots of autonomy in this role alongside the team - and the opportunity to keep up to date with the latest technologies and trends in today's market. They key really is here; to be a good coder and a good human. You don't need to have experience with everything they use, they believe good developers will pick it up.

Key Skills:

  • PHP
  • CMS or MVC experience
  • MySQL

Desirable, any of the following:

  • Net, C# experience
  • Any experience with Perl, Ruby
  • HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript

The Company

A well-funded start-up is looking for a self-motivated Software Developer to join their growing Vibrant team. They are on the hunt for a diverse individual who wants to challenge themselves and grow with the organisation… Could this be you? You will be working amongst a team of top talent, nestled in the heart of Wales. Don't worry though, this role will be fully remote - with the occasional office visit once every couple of months if needed. Although, you may also be based in their state of the art offices in Cardiff if you do choose!

The company's founders have existential experience in their field from both working closely with the private and public sector for over 50 years combined, as well as professionally executing some of the largest and most difficult projects over the last decade, worth over £50 million. The company has further demonstrated phenomenal success over the last 4 years, including two very significant projects won. One of which has vastly helping improve the lives of skin cancer patients.

For someone who is looking for that fulfilment in a role then there is nothing more rewarding than this. You will be making a difference to the things that matter! If you are looking to be treated like an adult with complete flexibility, remote working and unlimited holiday (no seriously, it isn't tracked) then please apply!

If you do not think you quite qualify for the role then please still get in contact. My client has expressed they will interview individuals who show passion and drive for their industry as long as they have demonstratable project experience.

My client is interviewing ASAP with a March start.
