Package: Salary up to £40,000 plus a great benefits package including a 10% Bonus

The Role

Oscar Technology are looking for a DBA for a recognisable business in South Manchester. This is a pressing requirement for them and something they need to secure early in the New Year. Interviews can commence immediately, and remote on-boarding is possible. This role will be working from home for the forseable future but then a return to the office should come in at some point this year.

This is a typical DBA position; we are looking for a production DBA with good skills but we are more than happy to look at someone with a couple of years experience who is hungry to grow and learn more.

You will be involved in large migrations to the newest versions of SQL as well as all the usual DBA tasks. There is no on call needed for this position. They are also looking to migrate to PowerBI and Power BI Report Server so again, bang up to date technologies are being used here.

There is a longer-term objective to migrate to the cloud and all training on this would be provided.

What's on offer

  • Great benefits package, including a 10% bonus.
  • Opportunity to work with latest versions of SQL and be involved in cloud migrations from the beginning
  • Join at the start of a huge year of growth, pushed on by a new CEO.
  • Flexi hours and work from home
  • New office surrounded by green space and with plenty of parking, a gym and a canteen
  • Easily accessible from the M60
  • 25days Hols
  • And more….

  • Engineering and defining builds, backup/restore, DR and monitoring standards
  • Providing day to day support and technical expertise
  • Taking ownership of and standardising the current Database infrastructure
  • Design and maintenance of a business-critical multi-site SQL environment
  • Working closely with developers and other IT teams - advising on design, performance tuning, discussing and implementing code changes
  • Understanding and managing database security
  • Performing work such as server migrations, patching and upgrades as necessary
  • Collaborating with the wider engineering and operational teams to resolve issues impacting Database infrastructure (e.g. IT infrastructure such as storage, VMs and networks)
  • Documentation of processes and procedures
  • Working with the development teams, providing clearly documented operational guides

Role Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a DBA, good production DBA Knowledge
  • SQL Programming Skills - query tuning, indexing, locking etc.
  • Ideally a self development mindset - keen to learn and work with the latest technology. You will be using up to date versions of SQL and pushing towards cloud systems

The Company
