Technical Product Manager

Oscar Technology are partnered with a SME communications technology firm who are looking to appoint their first Technical Product Manager, which can be based either in Manchester City Centre or West Yorkshire

The Technical Product will be responsible for the E2E technical management of a group of products, taking products from strategy through to initial idea, development, implementation, support and continuous improvement. The position is working very closely with their development team so the client are looking for people that have a really strong grasp of software engineering practices, either from being an ex-developer or a lot of close working with engineering teams.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Providing vision and direction to the development team and stakeholders throughout the project and create requirements
  • Ensure that the team always has an adequate amount of prior prepared tasks to work on
  • Plan and prioritise product feature backlog and development for the product
  • Define product vision, road-map and growth opportunities
  • Assess value, develop cases, and prioritise stories, epics and themes to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with product strategy
  • Provide backlog management, iteration planning, and elaboration of the user stories
  • Work closely with the Sales, Account Management and Support teams to create and maintain a product backlog according to business value or ROI
  • Lead the planning product release plans and set the expectation for delivery of new functionalities
  • Provide an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of Release/Sprint Goals
  • Research and analyse the market, the users, and the roadmap for the product
  • Follow our competitors and the industry
  • Keep abreast with Agile/Scrum best practices and new trends

Technical Product Manager requirements and qualifications

Ideally you will have:

  • In-depth knowledge of Agile process and principles
  • Strong understanding of Software development processes and practices
  • Strong understanding of Cloud
  • Outstanding communication, presentation and leadership skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Creative thinker with a vision
  • Attention to detail
