Manchester - 60% remote working.

Salary - Up to £100,000 plus benefits package.

We are just kicking off with the search for a Head of Data Engineering to join a growing technology firm based in Central Manchester who have recently spent £30million on their Data Platform and Architecture.

This role is for a senior figure, experienced in the field who wants to take on leadership of the data team which is ultimately responsible for architecture, development, and operations of the data technology as well as work with internal stakeholders to ensure the system meets the needs of the business.

The Role

You will be working with a new platform has been built developed over the last two years (at a cost of £30million) and will provide 24/7 service. This is a cutting edge, high availability system - the platform will have millions of users and hundreds of thousands of transactions every day. This is a complex system, and we are looking for a talented individual to get the most out of the system but setting and executing a challenging Data Strategy.

You will be responsible for:

  • Setting and then executing Data Strategy across the group which will include:
    • Building Operational Capabilities within the system
    • Overseeing the migration of data and retiring of legacy systems
    • Provide detailed intelligence and insight to business operations.
  • Management of Data Security, Integrity and Regulation Compliance.
  • Development of team culture, performance monitoring, goal setting and personal development
  • Define objectives and goals that the data team and wider technology teams will work towards
  • Participate and encourage learning activities, promoting the learning culture from within, and identifying knowledge gaps that need to be plugged through internal or external training

About You

We are looking for someone with strong experience in Data Platforms and Engineering, there is no set technologies we are looking at specifically, but we are looking for someone with experience in these general areas:

  • Systems that manage terabytes of Data
  • Databases - MySQL / Oracle / NoSQL
  • ETL tools and processes
  • A mix of on premise and cloud systems
  • Data Lakes / Data Warehousing.
  • Understanding of Data Science Principles
  • Business Intelligence Reporting and Insight provision

The successful candidate will also need to be able to work with C-Level Stakeholders, be able to mentor people and have experience working across multiple technical teams.
