Role - Head of Data Science

Location -- Role is Remote but occasional office travel to South West - Bristol / Plymouth / Exeter

Salary - Up to £85,000

We have a brand-new role for a Head of Data Science, to own the Data Science function within the business. This role will include building out all technical capabilities, implementing ML models and growing a team.

This role could suit an experienced Head of Data Science who is still very much hands on (and wants to be) or someone with strong technical ML Skills who would make a step up into owning the function.

You will be building out a variety of Machine Learning model which will include pricing models, conversion rates, operational estimations which include a number of large variables and future business opportunities.

Please note - there is also a Snr Data Science position for the company which is currently also advertised too.

The Role

As mentioned above the company are growing quickly….

They have recently closed a new partnership deal which will be huge for a company (its with a BIG NAME in their field) and thus they need to embark on using ML Products to drive business growth.

They need this person to be able to build out ML Models from scratch across multiple products within their range. They are looking to hire additional, technical members of staff and grow and Data Science Team but this is the first role within that team.

Technology wise they the roles are going to be Python focussed and would love some knowledge in machine learning libraries or frameworks, (Scikit-Learn, Keras, PyTorch).

The role can be offered on a mostly remote basis, they would like some office time, but this could be as little as once a month.


  • Be the Expert in ML within the company
  • Research data science application and proposition of possible products
  • Overall management of ML program.
  • Design of Machine Learning Models and applications.
  • Implementation of ML Models
  • Statistical Analysis for fine tuning of models.
  • Testing, experimentation of ML Models
  • Selection of data-sets and representation methods

The Company:

This is a rapidly growing organisation, looking to add over 100 staff over the next 10months, they have made 7 acquisitions this year alone and armed with a huge new contract the growth is going to be huge over the next 2 years.

Currently they have 5 core products and they arm looking to build AI capability into all of these over time so now is really the time to join!

  • Experience in Machine Learning and some experience within a Machine Learning Framework.
  • Hunger for personal growth and development
  • Understanding of data structures, data modelling and software architecture
