Vice President - Construction

Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Vice President of Construction to lead and oversee all aspects of utility-scale construction operations. The ideal candidate will bring 15-20 years of experience managing large crews, subcontractors, and complex projects in the energy sector, with a strong foundation in financial forecasting, project management, and solar project execution.

This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring profitability, and building high-performing teams across multiple active projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership for all construction activities across utility-scale solar and related energy projects.

• Oversee project execution from pre-construction through commissioning, ensuring schedule, budget, safety, and quality standards are met.

• Lead and mentor Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and performance.

• Develop and manage construction budgets, forecasts, and financial reports in partnership with finance and executive leadership.

• Implement standardized project management processes, tools, and reporting to ensure consistent delivery.

• Negotiate contracts, manage vendor relationships, and oversee subcontractor performance.

• Partner with business development and engineering teams to provide constructability input during project planning.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance team performance.

• Represent the company with clients, investors, and stakeholders as a senior leader in construction operations.

Qualifications

• 15-20 years of progressive leadership experience in construction management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.

• Proven track record managing large field crews and subcontractors on utility-scale projects.

• Strong background in financial forecasting, project controls, and contract management.

• Experience delivering utility-scale solar projects (EPC, developer, or owner's rep side).

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (MBA a plus).

• Proficiency with project management and financial reporting tools (MS Project, Primavera P6, Procore, etc.).

• Excellent leadership, communication, and client-facing skills.

• OSHA 30, PMP, or equivalent certifications preferred.

• Willingness to travel as needed to oversee project sites.
