Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Vice President of Construction to lead and oversee all aspects of utility-scale construction operations. The ideal candidate will bring 15-20 years of experience managing large crews, subcontractors, and complex projects in the energy sector, with a strong foundation in financial forecasting, project management, and solar project execution.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring profitability, and building high-performing teams across multiple active projects.
Key Responsibilities
Provide executive leadership for all construction activities across utility-scale solar and related energy projects.
Oversee project execution from pre-construction through commissioning, ensuring schedule, budget, safety, and quality standards are met.
Lead and mentor Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and performance.
Develop and manage construction budgets, forecasts, and financial reports in partnership with finance and executive leadership.
Implement standardized project management processes, tools, and reporting to ensure consistent delivery.
Negotiate contracts, manage vendor relationships, and oversee subcontractor performance.
Partner with business development and engineering teams to provide constructability input during project planning.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance team performance.
Represent the company with clients, investors, and stakeholders as a senior leader in construction operations.
Qualifications
15-20 years of progressive leadership experience in construction management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
Proven track record managing large field crews and subcontractors on utility-scale projects.
Strong background in financial forecasting, project controls, and contract management.
Experience delivering utility-scale solar projects (EPC, developer, or owner's rep side).
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (MBA a plus).
Proficiency with project management and financial reporting tools (MS Project, Primavera P6, Procore, etc.).
Excellent leadership, communication, and client-facing skills.
OSHA 30, PMP, or equivalent certifications preferred.
Willingness to travel as needed to oversee project sites.
