Development Manager - Manchester / Remote - E-Commerce

Package: £70,000 (DOE) plus 4 days remote work a week, flexible hours, pension, personalised training budget, early finish Fridays, socials + more

The role

We are on the look-out for a Development Manager (we can consider a Technical Lead looking to take the next step) to move into a mainly hands-off role managing a team of 2 Full Stack Developers within a leading E-Commerce business.

Recently there has been huge investment into developing their online presence and following on from this they have several requirements to scale up the digital and development teams. You will be involved in growing the Development department and you will have the first say in who will be on your team.

You will oversee the work of the 2 Developers initially and liaise directly with the external development partner. You can decide the balance between in-house development and agency use. You will have the first say on the tech-stack and languages used and really bring fresh ideas to the table. You will work alongside the Head of E-Commerce to co-ordinate the technical roadmap and plan projects. There will also be an element of technical architecture and product ownership to the role.

You will lead the development of various open-source applications including PHP and Magento, so knowledge of these languages would be desirable. Occasionally you will get involved with some hands-on development, however it is very much a management role.

Development Manager requirements

  • Knowledge of PHP and/or Magento and how they are used
  • Experience managing or mentoring Developers within a Technical Lead or Development Manager role
  • Be interested in co-ordinating in-house Development as well as external agencies

In return you will receive..

  • Remote work - up to 4 days at home a week (some occasional office work for important meetings)
  • Flexible hours
  • Your birthday off
  • Early finish on Fridays
  • Personalised training budget

Apply - apply now with a copy of your latest CV as video interviews will be commencing soon.

Location - they have an office based in Manchester which benefits from on-site parking and is easily accessible by public transport. However, the candidate can work from home up to 4 days a week.
