Do you want to work for one of the world's most established trading companies? Do you want the chance to work with the latest technologies that are constantly evolving? Do you want to work on some of the most challenging and complex infrastructures within IT? You've come to the right place.
This is the opportunity as a System Engineer to build low latency, Linux based trading and backend environments, as well as working in areas ranging from systems automation and DevOps, to big data and storage. You will collaborate and interact closely with the system and network engineers, traders and developers in a high pace environment, whilst still having to communicate these ideas and technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, so communication skills are as important as your scripting. Trading systems require working with the latest technology to ensure that your infrastructure is ready to act within the nanosecond, so as a System Engineer you must be both proactive and reactive to technological changes and trends and be ready to implement something new at any moment.
Linux, Unix, Red Hat, PXE, Puppet, Python, Shell, HPC, GPFS, DevOps, CI/CD, Docker, Mesos, Kubernetes, Git, SVN, TeamCity, Jenkins, Confluence, GIT, SQL
- You are a Linux Jedi master, there is no side of it you haven't touched
- Automation in HFT is everything, so Python and Shell are essential
- Automated provisioning and systems management goes hand in hand with this (PXE, Puppet, Salt)
- Cloud, virtualisation and containerisation (Docker, Mesos, Kubernetes)
- Backup and storage technology experience
- Experience with distributed and parallel high-performance file systems (GPFS)
- You're not afraid of the current best practices of HPC
- You can explain technical concepts to non-technical people better than Neil deGrasse Tyson
- You're not the Beatles, you don't need your hand holding. You take the direction, you suggest the solutions.
As this is a trading company, there is a major incentive to grow your already fantastic salary even further, with long standing employees earning over half their salaries in bonuses! The level of skill required here is rewarded tremendously, and as your work provides further impact over the years, this reward continuously increases. But, besides salary, the opportunity to improve your skills is unrivalled. There is no limit on your educational allowance at this business. If it will improve your skills and career, it will be funded. It is that simple. This business wants all of their employees to have the chance to exponentially grow and achieve their goals.
The flat structure at this company means that no matter your position in the business, your idea will be listened to. If your suggestion is better than the team lead with 20 years experience, then it's your suggestion that is used! This is also apparent in their relaxed and informal culture as a company, and their regular outings, social events, seasonal parties and company holidays for all employees reflects this! P.S, say goodbye to prepping food the night before, everything here is provided.
